Our Staff Bios
THE DOCTORS
DR. GAYLE BLOCK
Dr. Block is the practice owner, having begun Town and Country 18 years ago with Dr. Borghesi. She is currently the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association president. She is married with one daughter in high school. Dr. Block is very active in the community, serving as Vice Chair of the Tolland Board of Education and on the Advisory Board for the Animal Population Control Program, which is a program that pays for the spaying and neutering of pets adopted from municipal pounds. Dr. Block graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association as well.
DR. LISA DEROSA
Dr. DeRosa joined Town and Country in 2008. She received her DVM from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002, and before that a B.A. in biology from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.. After receiving her degree, she practiced in northeastern Connecticut for 3 years, and then in central Connecticut for 3 years. Dr. DeRosa is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association. When she’s not working, she enjoys rooting for the Red Sox, music of all kinds, gardening, scrapbooking and her three cats.
DR. SIOBHAN BACH
Dr. Bach graduated from Tufts University. She brings her compassion, expertise and an upbeat attitude. When she's not at work, she shares her time with her two Austrailian Shepherds, Pickle and Vicki, and a German Shepherd, Jezabelle. Dr. Bach will be seeing pets full time in the office and is available to schedule house call appointments as well.
THE STAFF
JERRY
Jerry has been at Town and Country for ….. a long time! He has been a technician along side Dr. Block for many, many years (since the beginning!). Some may also recognize him as the Vernon Animal Control Officer. In addition, Jerry is actively involved in wildlife rehabilitation. He is a true animal lover; has lots of pets at home - dogs, cats, turtles, chickens, a duck and a guinea pig. In his ‘spare time’, he enjoys spending time with his family.
JANE
Jane is a certified technician who’s been with us for ten years. She received her B.S. from Uconn in Animal Science with an equine major. Jane brings a wealth of knowledge with her, and she is always more than willing to answer any questions. She has an adorable black lab, Saco (pictured), that she loves to enjoy the outdoors with, along with her two teenagers.
KAREN
Karen has been the face of the front desk since 2005. She always meets and greets clients and their pets with a smile. Karen enjoys going to craft fairs and loves spending time with her family and her pets ~ her dog Chloe, cats Nestle and Mugsy and bunny Linus.
LYNN
Lynn has been a technician here since 2006. When she’s not here, she’s always busy with her horses, her Golden Retrievers, her children and her super cute Chihuahua, Chi Chi, who can usually be found perching on her shoulder.
KELLY
Kelly joined our group in 2007, as an assistant and is now the business manager. She lives with her husband and has a full house, with two pugs, Abby and Myles and three chihuahuas, Shammy, Diesel and Bit (pictured!), who she loves going home to.
COURTNEY
Courtney is a certified veterinary technologist who joined us in 2009. Courtney received her Bachelors degree in Animal Science from Mt. Ida College located in Newton, MA in May 2007. In June 2007, she obtained her certfication. She is a kitty-person at heart and resides in Suffield with her three cats, Merlin, Lily and Pumpkin.
COLBY
Colby is a 7 year old black lab mix. Most days, you’ll find him lounging in the hall by Dr. Block’s office, or creeping around the front desk waiting for the next cookie. He can be shy, but can easily be swayed with treats.
